There are various size and power level of portable air compressor. Depending on the tools you will be using, a few different types are available. To run your strongest tool, check the power requirements of your tools and purchase a model that is sufficient. to be sure it will be enough for every job, always choose slightly more power than you think you will need.

In the bed or under the hood, truck mounted compressors can be mounted. For space saving, under hood models are good. Since these use the engine of your truck for power, they have low maintenance. However, the truck must be running to power the compressor, makes it their downside.

 

  1. Deck mounted compressors

In the bed of the truck, deck mounted compressors are mounted. Until the job is finished, they can be taken out and left at the job site. They don’t rely on your vehicle for power since these have their own engine. They will need fuel to power the engine and need regular maintenance on the engine.

While some compressors are run on gasoline, others are electrically powered. On both types, the air is stored in the holding tank. With a hose, the tools are attached. The gauges on the compressor are regulated with a valve. They indicate the pressure.
